Governing Body Non Executive Director (Observer), Chair of the Somerset Patient Participation Groups
Peter is a strong advocate of the recent changes to the structure of the NHS.
He is a Lay Observer Member of the CCG and is passionate about the policies and practices of the NHS being patient centred. In this respect he sees one of his key roles being to look at the various ways in which the patient voice can not only be heard but also listened to.
Since 2009, Peter has been the Chair of the Patient Participation Group (PPG) at the West Somerset Healthcare Practice. He is also the current Chair of the Somerset County PPG Chairs Network to which all of the 75 practices within the county who have a PPG are invited. Much work has been undertaken to encourage practices to establish a PPG and there are now more than 60 PPGs in Somerset.
Prior to his retirement, Peter was Head of HR for the County Council.
Peter has always had a particular interest in young people, having previously been a Chair of Governors for a large comprehensive school in Taunton for 13 years and, in more recent times until 2012, been Chair of Governors for a federation of three schools in West Somerset.
