Governing Body Non Executive Director (Patient and Public Engagement)
Eilleen Tipper is the Lay Member of the Governing Body responsible for Patient and Public Involvement. She was formerly the Chair of the PPI Forum in Health for Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and a member of the Steering Group for Somerset Local Involvement Network (LINk). Eilleen is committed to supporting service users and carers in making their voice heard in all sectors of the health economy.
As a former trainer and management consultant, she has run focus groups and seminars for a range of stakeholders faced with organisational and service changes, and still runs focus groups at the Beacon Centre for cancer patients whose comments are fed back to clinical teams.
Having worked as a teacher in Hackney and Hertfordshire with severely disadvantaged and often emotionally disturbed students, Eilleen has retained an interest in the design and delivery of all services for children and young people, particularly the integration of service provision for education, health and social care.
She is a Governor of a secondary, primary and a Special school responsible in each for Inclusion and Safeguarding. She is also a Director of CHYPPS (Children and Young People's Partnership in Somerset )
Eilleen represents the CCG on the Executive of Somerset Healthwatch and, as part of the Somerset Compact, is involved in a Task & Finish Group aiming to improve the links between education and health. She has been a member of the design team for developing the House of Care for people with long term conditions, and also has a particular interest in the work of the Sedgemoor and Bridgwater Bay Federations, attending their health forums.
Eilleen regularly updates the Somerset County Patient Participation Group Chairs' Network on developments in the CCG and is a member of the Somerset Equality Advisory Group.
