Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group has a governing body consisting of a Chief Accountable Officer, local GPs and lay members including Healthwatch - working together to commission the best possible healthcare services in Somerset.  The Governing Body’s role is to ensure that we function effectively and economically. We have two paid statutory lay members and three unpaid lay members on the governing body.

The Governing Body is responsible for:

  • setting the CCG’s vision and strategy
  • approving the CCG’s commissioning plans and financial policies
  • monitoring local providers’ performance and quality 
  • approving annual reports
  • ensuring that the CCG debate issues in an open and transparent way
  • ensuring the CCG has  effective patient and public participation in commissioning healthcare

All our Governing Body meetings are open to the public to attend. Notification of the meetings is sent out to our mailing list a week before the meetings.  Please contact the CCG three working days before the meeting with any questions for members.
