We have previously commissioned demographic health profiles which you can see in the links above. However we now use more up to date profiles from Somerset Intelligence

http://www.somersetintelligence.org.uk/district-community-profiles.html

We also use the information provided for Somerset  from the Right Care equality and health inequality packs. These are used routinely in the day to day work of our commissioning teams.

Right Care - Information for Somerset

The Somerset Health and Wellbeing Board has a statutory duty to produce a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA). Our JSNA describes the current and future health, care and wellbeing needs of the local population. Based on this evidence, the Board set out its overall vision, key priorities and the actions to meet those needs in the current strategy for Somerset. The CCG is an active member of the Health & Wellbeing Board with our community partners

An important element of the organisational design is that it is based on a federation model. There are nine commissioning localities in Somerset, each with a nominated clinical delegate (GP) who sits on the Somerset CCG Clinical Operations Group (COG), with four of those delegates nominated to the Governing Body.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Somerset CCG and the nine commissioning localities has been in place. It sets out the general consensus on:

- the ways in which commissioning localities can contribute to clinical commissioning in Somerset
- the process for releasing locality commissioning budgets, and
- some features of the communication between commissioning localities and the Somerset CCG

The MoU is curently under review and an updated version will be published in October 2015.

More information about the commissioning localities and their membership can be found within this section.
