GP Delegate - East Mendip Commissioning Locality
Dr Emma Keane is a newly qualified GP working in the East Mendip area. She qualified as a doctor in 2007 and completed her house officer training in Devon, before moving to Bristol for her medical training. She trained as a GP in Bath which was when she became involved with some local projects, including a pilot scheme devised to avoid hospital admissions, and is now the lead GP for this service. Prior to entering medicine she worked in the private sector and hopes this will bring additional skills to the Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group.
She currently works as a GP three days a week and is passionate about providing excellent patient care closer to home. Emma believes that commissioning now provides GPs with the ability to design local services that meet the needs of the local people and really can make a difference.
Her interests include ambulatory care and also care of the older person.
