Evening and weekend appointments at GP surgeries
You can now access routine appointments in the evening and at the weekend if you are registered with a Somerset GP.
Local groups of practices are working together to deliver improved access to routine appointments in the evening and at weekends.
If you are registered at a Somerset GP practice, you will be offered appointments from 6.30 to 8.00pm, Monday to Friday, and some appointments over the weekend.
Who can use the service?
Any patient registered with a GP surgery in Somerset can request a routine appointment.
How do I make an appointment?
You can book one of these appointments by talking to the receptionist at your own GP practice during opening hours.
Where does the appointment take place?
The receptionist will advise you of the time and location of your appointment.
You may need to attend your appointment at a neighbouring GP surgery, but you will be advised at the time of booking if you are unable to see a GP or health professional of your choice.
Health staff working evenings and weekends will have access to your medical records and will be able to provide the same high standard of care as patients would expect during normal opening times.
