Interim Deputy Director of Adults Services
I’d like to start by saying how delighted I am to be in Somerset and how much I have enjoyed my time here since arriving in June 2014. Not only is it a beautiful part of the world but I’ve been really bowled over by how welcoming and helpful people have been and how keen to get on with tackling the big challenges that we have ahead of us.
After completing my degree and MA at Cambridge, I started work over 20 years ago in social care. This has included roles in operational and strategic management and senior leadership in forensic mental health, mental health, physical disability and older people’s services. I have also worked for the Audit Commission as an NHS Performance Lead and undertook a two year secondment to the Department of Health to work on national programmes. My last permanent role was as Director of Adult Social Services in a city council.
My passion is helping organisations with strategic development, engagement and transformation and it’s this that I focus on in my interim work. It’s incredibly satisfying to know that you have helped to engage organisations to deliver change that they designed and that they want to continue with.
It’s an exciting time with lots of opportunities for us all to get really involved the transformation and integration work for people in Somerset. I’m looking forward very much to contributing to this.
