Now retired, Chris is firmly committed to the National Health Service generally and to health in Somerset in particular. He recognises that recent changes may have led to a somewhat fragmented provision; however, the opportunity for direct patient involvement at a variety of levels has given patients a hitherto unheard voice.
As a recent patient, Chris has been able to experience the NHS at work, and recognises that the NHS has its own particular organisational characteristics. Chris has a particular interest in the effectiveness of quality systems and information technology systems.
Chris spent most of his working life in education; he started his career teaching in Papua New Guinea under the auspices of Voluntary Service Overseas. After teaching in a variety of settings in the UK and abroad he completed his career as Head of Faculty of Engineering at City of Bristol College, where he had a particular interest in management and technology.
